Plays, Books & Poetry

Hello all,

This week has flown by, so let me update you on what’s been going on in the world of Nick. First of all, I did the casting for my first play, Lost & Found, which goes on at the end of November, leaving only a few short weeks in which to rehearse. However, my cast have been wonderful so far and will continue to do so, I’m sure, and it’s going to be a great show even if I do say so myself. All the feedback I’ve had from beta readers has been very positive, and the actors are really great. I’m so very happy about this.

On the other hand it is taking up a lot of time so I haven’t done as much writing for the fantasy novel as I’d like. This has also been affected by recent cold/flu symptoms, which seem to abate and then come back again just to annoy me. However, I have got to roughly the middle or so of chapter 11, and hit a scene that seems quite minor in terms of the story, but which informs so much that goes on later in the book. It took me at least five tries to get it to sound right, but I think it’s there now.

I also took a bit of a break over the last few weeks to do some editing for the poetry volume that is soon to be published. That lead me into writing some poetry, as you’ll have seen from the last couple of weeks here on the blog. I wrote this one last week and thought I’d share it with you here.

The Girl of My Dreams

I am going to stop dreaming –
No, that’s not entirely true.
I am not going to stop dreaming about everything,
Just about you.

My dreams are the only place
That we can be together.
And it’s too tempting to stay with you,
Asleep forever.

That’s all for now – until next week,
Nick
