Life, Writing, & the Bardathon

I thought I’d give you a quick update on what’s going on in the world of Nick, since I haven’t done so in a while. It’s end of term here, so work has been very busy as return of books blossoms and someone has to try to fit them all into this library. Not me, of course, I’m far too busy and important (I’m neither). But that’s work and it’s all very boring, so we’ll put that back in the box for now and look it after the weekend.

Meanwhile, I’ve been on a short story writing kick recently, as you may have seen. It’s been good to bash out a few shorter stories, whilst I pondered on what next for the novel. News flash on that is I’ve drafted material for chapter 16, I think, depending on how it reads when I type it up tomorrow. But it’s good to get that under my belt – it’s been a while since I didn’t any work on it, what with plays, line learning, Proteus, and all other sorts of things that I’ve been doing instead.

What I’m getting excited about is the LUTheatre Shakespeare Marathon. Yes, it is as crazy as it sounds. Our society are putting on all of Shakespeare’s plays, all of his poems, everything he ever wrote, all in 5 days. I suspect we shall all be very sleep deprived by the end of it, but it should be a lot of fun. I’m currently taking part as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Antonio in The Merchant of Venice, Mark Anthony in Julius Caesar and Antony & Cleopatra, Roderigo in Othello, Paris in Romeo & Juliet, and Moth in Love’s Labour’s Lost, which I am also producing. I’m looking forward to it immensely. If you want to find out more – go here. It’s all for charity as well, so do please make a donation if you can.

I’m about to go into full house hunting mode, which I do loathe with a fiery passion. It’s all very annoying having to go out and look at places that are all pretty much horrible, because you can’t afford the good ones. Plus, long experience has taught me that the ones that look alright tend not to be six months later. Anyway, we’ll just have to see what comes my way. If anyone has a luxury apartment in this neck of the woods that they want me to house sit for them for a year or so, please do get in touch immediately. Thank you.

That’s pretty much it for now – I said this would be a quick update and I wasn’t joking. I’ve got things to be getting on with. See you Monday, where I’ll have something a bit more substantial for you – have a good weekend all!
