Stardust & Other Poems

I Promised Myself

I promised myself
I wouldn’t cry on the train home

I promised myself
I wouldn’t cry walking home alone

I promised myself
I wouldn’t cry the minute I stepped inside

I promised myself
But do you know? I lied.

Pretty Little

You sat across the table
Piercing me
With your pretty little eyes.

You didn’t want to hurt me
But you were
Too busy to be serious.

All along you knew you were
Loving him
And I didn’t stand a chance.

You sat across the table
Piercing me
With your pretty little lies.

E minor

I made the wrong decision
Many moons ago
I should have said that I would fight
Instead I let you go

I wonder if you’re happy
With someone good to love
I hope he knows that you shine bright
As any star above.

Stardust

we are all dust

and
  we are all lost
  alone in the darkness
  adrift in time
  we can’t feel

we are all dust

but
  eyes can be stars
  and smiles can light rooms
  in a spectrum
  we can’t see

we are all dust

made
  at the first point
  conceived in the heart
  of bright stars
  we can’t know

yes
we are all dust
but
    we
      are
          stardust
