Exchange & Other Poems

Exchange

She wears a coat
    with pockets full of grief
He wears a shirt
    stitched from lack of self-belief

She has a smile
    brighter than any star
He has a look
    that transfixes from afar

She turns her head
her lips look ripe to kiss
He turns his head
    exchanging her lips for his

She’ll scrap a shirt
    stitched from lack of self-belief
He’ll clear a coat
    with pockets full of grief

If I Kiss You

if I kiss you
the stars will shine out bright
if I kiss you
your life will fill with light
if I kiss you
    your life will begin anew
if I kiss you
your dreams will all come true
if I kiss you
if I kiss…

Early Thoughts

steam rises from my coffee

I am sitting in a sunbeam
basking like a lizard in the early hours

I am thinking of you
of when I will next get to see you
and hear your voice

it is too long to wait

come and sit in a sunbeam with me
and drink my coffee.
