The Way Things Are

The Way Things Are follows best friends Anne-Marie and Mark at two pivotal points in their lives. The first comes in the run up to their first prom night, when Anne-Marie’s feelings for Mark start to come to the light. Any reciprocation on Mark’s part, though, is cut short by his burgeoning relationship with the idol of his affections, Lucy.

Two years later, the pair attends the wedding of old school friends. Meeting Anne-Marie’s new boyfriend, Robert, throws light on the strains in Mark’s long distance relationship with Lucy, whilst Anne-Marie is hiding much more than her continuing feelings for Mark.

The Way Things Are is a bittersweet look at first love and lasting friendship.
