Razor’s Kiss

Running home to run a bath
Water leaking from the taps and my eyes
Stung with tears, misting as the steam rises.
Climbing in, skin scalded lobster red
Stretching out my length on this auspicious bed.

Your last farewell is my farewell to all,
Steam rises still, but I will rise no more.
Cold comfort comes from the razor’s kiss
Its careful caress across my skin
Is a better lover than you have ever been.
