Stop the Rot

There is something rotten in the heart of man
Something rotten that began
Not with Adam, not with Eve
But when we started to believe
In gods of all shapes and sizes
In various costumes and disguises
Gods that tell us: “to be good
You must know less than you could”
Gods who demand our obedience
And our loss of common sense
To cure the rot we need compliance
With the helping hand of science
But I can’t help thinking it would be much quicker
To seek out you local vicar
And tell him “it’s all a foolish farce,
So stick your god right up your arse!”
